Rain, rain, blah blah

Rain, rain go away. Come back when my kids are in school. Honestly, I am trying to be grateful. I know we need the moisture and all but sheesh. I don't know how much more my garden can take. A week or so ago, we had an amazing rain storm. Non-stop lightning, hard rain, hard hail, and more rain. Lots of people in our area had basement flooding, some severe. I'm grateful we didn't. Here are a couple of pictures of the hail. I wish I had got my video camera out. The water on our street looked like a river. It was flowing clear over our curb and gutter.
This week, we made a day trip to Idaho Falls to go to the zoo. It was per Chases' summer request. It was so good to get out of the house. It did rain, but we got to the zoo between storms and it was actually great weather for that. We met my mom and she took us to lunch and joined us at the zoo. I guess Kenna hasn't to the zoo in her memory, because she was scared many of the animals would come out to eat her. She did ask me to take this picture of her with the monkey. She said he was sitting there to see her. When we went into the petting zoo, some kids were taking a goat on a walk, She was scared to death of the goat. It was funny. She didn't want to go in and pet them. Whenever Chase stopped petting this goat, it would yell at him. It was fun to drive around and see our old favorite place and check out our house.
My friend Michelle and I (she's the awesome cake decorator) also finished up this craft on Friday. We did it all ourselves, cutting, painting, sanding, everything. I had a pattern, but we changed it up to suit us and I think they turned out even cuter. These two are mine, one for me, one for my good friend who is moving. I don't have a picture of Michelle's, but check it out on her blog. It is so cute. We had a lot of fun doing this, using some tools I don't normally use.
Connor went Friday on some scout thing called an Ordeal. He can home happy and in one piece, so I guess it wasn't to bad. He did sleep in the rain, and did six hours of service. He is now a member of the order of the arrow. I don't know what that is but he thinks it's pretty cool.

Kenna is 5!

Holy cow! My baby is 5! She has been looking forward to this birthday for months. She is sooo grown up now. All day today she has been telling me all the things she can do because she is 5. She is looking forward to Kindergarten, telling me I will cry without her but it's ok because she will still give me hugs and kisses. She is awesome at hugs. Kenna is a girly-girl and I think it's fun to have one, Kate definitely is not and that's fun too. She doesn't wear her princess dresses as much as she used to, but still loves all things pretty. We took the training wheels off her bike last Monday and she took off. She can ride and stop by herself, but needs help starting. She has been taking her brothers scooters and riding them crazy fast, so we got her this one of her own for her birthday. Look at this cake! I finally figured out the secret having amazing cakes. It's awesome, isn't it. Here's the secret, having my neighbor make it. We have awesome neighbors. Kenna loves to call Michelle during the day and go to her house to play. She also likes to play with Michelle's 14 yr old daughter, Kori. They are so nice to let her hang out at their house. A couple of months ago, Michelle told me she had seen the perfect cake for Princess Kenna, a princess in the pea cake. Then she told me she would like to make it for her. Are you kidding me? She does this for fun. Anyway, of course I was ok with that, since I love making cakes so much, it was a gift to me too. It was so pretty, we didn't want to eat it. It did taste good too. She has some better pictures on her blog, check out her link it you like.

Catch up

I haven't done this for so long, but there are a bunch of pictures I want to put on. I just did this slideshow. Most of them are from Mackay on Easter weekend. Katie sure loved those horses and I'm still hearing almost every day about how much she needs to have one. Since the last post Chase got his tonsils out and four teeth pulled. He came through both very well except his voice is higher and more nasil now. They keep telling me that this will pass with time. Connor has been finishing up testing. He went on a scout camp-out, had a band concert and danced with a girl at Mutual. Kate has had an awesome soccer season ( I have pictures of that on my other computer, maybe next time) and a field trip to a historical farm. Kenna has a dance rehersal and playing. We send Mike's parents off on their mission over Mother's Day weekend with a surprise open house. It was sad to say good-bye, but for a good cause. This feels like a pretty disjointed blog, but that's how life has been lately. We also had my parents down for a very fun weekend in there somewhere. It's all a blur at the moment. I had just better stop.
