Elections and soccer

Chase came home last Friday and told me he signed up to run for student council.  I was surprised, but I am so proud of him.  It takes courage to put yourself out there, especially in front of a bunch of 7th graders.  One of his friends told him, he had a good chance because he is popular with the nerds.  Hmmmmm.
Preliminaries were yesterday.  This was just a vote based on name to see if you got to make posters.

They messed up and put Chase Walker on the ballot instead of Wallace.  He didn't quite make the cut, but since a teacher messed up, they put him through to the finals.  We came up with these posters last night.  The posters are up all week and elections are Friday.  Only 2 kids make it.
This poster is my personal favorite.  I love that he is willing to take this chance.  Go Chase!

This is Kenna with her cute soccer coach.  She got the best coach.  They are former high-school players.  They love the girls and make them all feel like a million bucks, but they are still learning a lot about soccer.  Also, they don't yell at them!  Yay, soccer as it should be for 7-8 yr olds.

                                                              The team

Kate and Mike when they got bored or Kenna wasn't playing.

This is Kenna's first year, and she is having fun.  She has learned and
improved alot.  She has even scored 2 goals.
We have found out that she is FAST.  Who knew?

Go Chase! It is a big deal to put yourself out there. Spencer ran for student council when he was a Freshman. He didn't win, but he learned a lot from it and he wasn't devastated. Chase has got a great sense of humor. Go Kenna too! I don't have trouble thinking of her being fast. Soccer is a great sport for any kid of any age. You don't have to be a super athlete to have fun and there is lots of action so kids don't get bored.

I would definately "Pick" Chase for student council...heehee. Good for him! That takes guts.

Glad to hear Kenna had a good coach...they are far and few I'm afraid.

Go Chase!
YOu are right it takes courage to put yourself out there at that age. Yikes!
And picking your nose to boot. Love it!

Also happy to hear Kenna has coaches who don't yell. One of my pet peeves about any sports.

So glad to get some family updates.
Looking forward to seeing you next week!
