here comes the sun!!

Yay! After two weeks of no school and rain, we did a happy dance when the sun came out. At least I did. We did have some fun during the rain though. One day between storms Mike got out to take the kids golfing. They all had a great time, although I heard that Chase was a scary driver. He had orginally taken the day off so we could go swimming, but the weather didn't cooperate. We ran errands that morning. I have been looking for some bookcase headboards for my boys. I thought it would be nice for them, but the furniture stores were pretty much over what I wanted to spend. I had looked at some at Shopko, which were less expensive, but so cheaply made I didn't think it would be worth it. That Thursday with Mike, we stopped at D.I. to look for a bed frame, which we also needed. Celiac calls this the Wonder D.I. because she has had some terrific finds there, but I hadn't been so lucky. Anyway the bedframes were $20 bucks with missing wheels. You can buy new for $25 so that was a no way. However I got this awesome headboard for $8. It's even all wood, not cheapo board like the Shopko ones. Now, I need to find one more. We invited all the "cousins" up to visit last weekend. With my there were ten kids. They have a great time and play really well together, but I have a new appreciation for people who have that many kids. I don't know how they feed them. I felt like all I did was get food and try to think of things I could make that would stretch. Grandma, if you are reading this, once again I think you are incredible. By the way, how did you feed them?? This week during the rain, Chase built this great catapult (Mike just got called as a Webelos leader and we stole all the supplies from his stuff.) and Connor is working on a cross bow.

Boys Room

This is the boys room. They picked red and gray for the paint colors. I'm all done except for putting up some stuff on the walls.

It's been a busy week. On Memorial Day, it rained and rained, so we spent the day moving Connor and Chase into their new bedroom downstairs. It has of course caused a ripple effect that I am still not caught up on. All the stuff that was in that downstairs bedroom is either in a huge D.I. pile or stacked in the spare bedroom. The boys seem to like it, but Mike is still having withdrawals that they aren't just across the hall. I don't know what he will do when they actually move out. We moved the girls' into their new bedroom upstairs and I spent all day yesterday painting furniture for them. When it's done and when the boys room is clean, I'll get some pictures. I got to spend sometime doing end of school activities. I washed chairs with the Kindergarteners and spent and afternoon at Chase's school running a booth at a carnival. I think I should take my act on the road. I don't think a real carnival would hire me, I'd lose them to much money. It's fun to see those kids win. The biggest event of the week was Kenna's birthday. Just ask her, she'll tell you. She told everyone we saw that day and did she love being the center of attention. We made her a "Barbie Cake" I wanted to be able to give her the doll we put in the cake. It's had to find one the right size, real Barbies are to big. This one was a bit small,
so we have Princess in giant slanted skirt cake, another testament to why I shouldn't make these crazy cakes. Her big present from us (a bike) hadn't come by her birthday, but she was pretty happy with the rest. We gave her the bike today and my mom sent her the helmet. Check out swimming suit number two. Nice knew and elbow pads, huh? She loves to wear these and trust me, she dresses herself. I can't believe my baby is four. She is such a loving kid, all about hugs and kisses. She is great a saying thank you. Lately, she is getting a bit bossy and acquiring an attitude to. She's the queen and she likes it. We'll work on that.
