These next three pictures are from Connor's first date to Senior Ball.  He has taken a peer tutor class at his school, working with the students with disabilities.  He loves it.  His teacher asked if he would be willing to take one of the girls to Senior Ball. They went in a big group with all the other peer tutor kids.  This is a group shot of all the guys.  I love how the boy at the end is looking at them like they are all crazy.  I meant to do this with a whole post on the end of school year activities, but couldn't figure out how to get the pictures from Flicker, so here we go.

This is Con and his date.  The photographer was trying to get them to do different silly poses, but she didn't want to.  Hence Connor's GQ pose.

Con and his date.  I'm just a little biased, but I think he looks pretty darn handsome.

Backtracking

I had such grand ambitions to go back and do a bunch of posts, catching all the memories of the time when we didn't have a computer.  Reality has set in, however.  I am lazy with my blog, having a hard time keeping up with the current stuff  and there is no way I will go back properly, so for my own memories I'm doing this super long, tons of pictures, catch up blog.  We had our annual New Year's Eve party.  We only party twice a year. :)  We had four couples and their children over.  We played minute to win it and board games. The kids danced (Just Dance) and ate, ate ate.  Fun times

We skied as often as possible.  It was a BAD snow year, so we didn't even get to go until mid-January.  We love this time spent as a family.  It's also fab when Papa brings the cousins for the day.

Swim season ended. It runs from Oct to Feb.   Connor loves it and he has made some good
friends.  Not to mention, he is in dang good shape.

The Wallace clan during what has become our annual Super Bowl party.  I don't think many of us care about the game (I usually don't even know who is playing) but it's a great excuse to get together, eat and there are prizes!

Kennadee had her first recital.  She was pretty excited.  Her teacher (me!) played a duet with her.  If I was better, I would have put on the video of her playing.  Oh well.

Phew.  That's about 6 posts into one.  Now there are only 2 catch-up left, because they were fun enough to merit their own.  Are ya hooked?  Stay tuned.

Elections and soccer

Chase came home last Friday and told me he signed up to run for student council.  I was surprised, but I am so proud of him.  It takes courage to put yourself out there, especially in front of a bunch of 7th graders.  One of his friends told him, he had a good chance because he is popular with the nerds.  Hmmmmm.
Preliminaries were yesterday.  This was just a vote based on name to see if you got to make posters.

They messed up and put Chase Walker on the ballot instead of Wallace.  He didn't quite make the cut, but since a teacher messed up, they put him through to the finals.  We came up with these posters last night.  The posters are up all week and elections are Friday.  Only 2 kids make it.
This poster is my personal favorite.  I love that he is willing to take this chance.  Go Chase!

This is Kenna with her cute soccer coach.  She got the best coach.  They are former high-school players.  They love the girls and make them all feel like a million bucks, but they are still learning a lot about soccer.  Also, they don't yell at them!  Yay, soccer as it should be for 7-8 yr olds.

                                                              The team

Kate and Mike when they got bored or Kenna wasn't playing.

This is Kenna's first year, and she is having fun.  She has learned and
improved alot.  She has even scored 2 goals.
We have found out that she is FAST.  Who knew?

We're Back in Business

Finally, we're back. I have sooooo much I want to catch up on, mostly so I can do a blog book and since this is the only journaling I do.  However, today I am just going to hit some highlights, then I will be posting all out of order to get all my stuff on.
We have another driver in the house.  This is Connor the day his license came in the mail. He is all official now.  He isn't supposed to drive with anyone but family in the car for 6 months.  This is hard for me.  He has had lots and lots of practice and he does really well, but it's hard to let go and not worry.  Everyone just tells me to plan on him being in some kinds of accident.  True, I guess, but who wants to plan on that?
Here's the other addition to our family.  It's not Connor's car, the family car, but Connor is the one who will mostly be driving it and paying for gas.  We got this from some people in our ward, for a good price. In fact, I bought a car for a bit less than I paid for this new computer.  I think that is crazy.  We had planned on getting something a little smaller, but when a good deal comes, you take it.

Katie and I just finished painting our door.  I had been wanting to paint it a color, but couldn't decide which.  I was painting a table this color, for another project and Kate wanted to paint the door.  Why not? You tell your kids no so much, it's fun to say, Sure!  She was so excited and I'll be honest.  I like it.
Chase turned 13, another teenager.  More on that later, but there sure is an ample supply of testosterone in the house these days.
Kate got round 1 of her braces off.  She couldn't stop smiling and asked her Dad to make caramel popcorn.  Side note:  she asked me to do her hair this way.  I almost died of shock.
Kenna is playing soccer.  It's her first season, and in her mind she is a STAR.  She's pretty funny.  Fast, but not really aggressive.  That's ok.  To be honest, we haven't missed our Saturdays at the soccer field.  Most days I want to stand up and yell at the parents.  Get a clue people, these are 7 & 8 years olds.  They are here for fun, not the World Cup.  I get so tired of people yelling at their kids and the team the whole game.  Honestly.  Sorry for the rant.  Guess how I really feel.

                                                                   Happy Spring!
